Physiotherapist – Shireen Sonday
Dr Sonday uses the services of experienced physiotherapist Mrs Shireen Sonday. Surgical procedures often reduce your mobility during the post-operative period and General Anaesthesia places the patient at increased risk for lung infections and lung collapse during the post-operative period. Physiotherapy is essential in preventing these complications and ensures that you have a speedy recovery back to your baseline level of functioning.
“I obtained my BSc Honours in Physiotherapy in 2002. After working in KZN and the UK for 3 years, I returned to Cape Town and started working at the Western Cape Rehabilitation centre. For 6 years, I worked as a senior physiotherapist.
In 2011, I joined the Cape Surgical team where I manage the post-operative physiotherapy needs of the patient. These patients undergo a pre and post operative rehabilitation programme to improve and maintain mobility and function thereby aiding in the recovery process.
Patients are treated as outpatients if it is required and we cover all aspects of physiotherapy. All treatment is done in consultation with the attending surgeon to ensure continuity of care.
Contact our practice if you require physiotherapy treatment.” – Shireen Sonday
